Project Safe Child

Since 2005, more than 6,000 children have visited Pat’s Place Child Advocacy Center to receive forensic interviews, medical care and counseling – all the support they need to heal and move forward with their lives. Pat’s Place Child Advocacy Center is committed to providing comprehensive services for every child in need, but the organization is also focused on ending child maltreatment in Mecklenburg County.

Project Safe Child (PSC) is a community-wide, child abuse prevention initiative that harnesses the proven power of location-based, predictive analytics. This mapping project will improve our understanding of the relationship between known risk factors associated with child abuse and substantiated cases of child abuse locally. PSC will help identify neighborhoods where children are most vulnerable and support efforts to strategically target evidence-based, child abuse prevention and intervention programs. The goal of PSC is to improve the protective capacities of adults and transform how the community understands and confronts the issue of child abuse.
