A State Of The Art Facility

A myriad of public and private agencies in Mecklenburg County have the responsibility for investigating, treating, and prosecuting child abuse. Pat’s Place Child Advocacy Center focuses the resources of these agencies under one roof to achieve the best comprehensive outcome for abused children from birth to age 18.

Designed to be child-friendly and non-institutional, Pat's Place provides children with one place to tell their story and includes:

  • An age appropriate forensic interview room with video recording abilities (video recordings are court admissible in North Carolina)
  • An observation room with a live camera feed for community partners involved in a child abuse investigation
  • A medical consult room equipped for exams by medical staff who are specialized in the area of child abuse
  • A family room for children and non-offending family members

Pat's Place works in partnership with Levine Children's Hospital to provide a comprehensive, expert staff that specialize in child sexual abuse. Our staff includes medical doctors and nurses, master level licensed and provisional social workers, and administrative professionals who offer the following core services:

  • Coordinated multidisciplinary investigations and team staffings
  • Comprehensive case management
  • Parent support groups and linkage to therapeutic services
  • Advocacy
  • Prevention education and public awareness
